Prior to the Industrial Revolution things were handmade... so they were : different, unique, accidental, and there was no mass production. They made use of natural sources and they adapted and made use of the raw materials around them.It all started in Britain where there was change in the previously manual labour and the use of animals, to machine-based manufacturing. The industries of textiles were the first to use machines for production, the development of iron-making techniques and the increase use of refined coal.
During the Industrial Revolution the water wheel was their main form of power which was designed by North Mill, Belper (Rees), 1804.
With the Industrialization.... • Planning of goods frees itself from the process of production
• The design profession in born
•Pattern and design books were available for designed goods
James Watt invented the streamengine in 1765 which improved the power, efficiency and cost-effectiveness of previous engines. This led to changes in the production of goods, transport system, need for new housing, population increase in towns and cities, and move from rural to urban areas. This marked the beginning of industrialisation.

Fashionable bottles were part of the ultimate experience, and were for the wealthiest in society. By the middle of the 19th Century, though, the industrial revolution changed that forever. Now, synthetic perfume allows the masses to partake, but of course, when something is not "the real deal" it always suffers somehow.
