Post Moderism

Introducing 'Post Modernism'

Postmodernism: Design in a Nutshell

"Less is more", that's what the modernists used to say but for the postmodernists "Less is a bore". Post Modernism took over in 1978 after that the designers from the modern movement found the latter style to be fundamentally meaningless and boring. In this era, materials were becoming less expensive and therefore there was a better chance to experiment more with rational designs. This led for more commerce and                                                people used to buy more since products weren't expensive, new, and quirky.

"Alessandro Mendini and Ettore Sotsass who worked for Alessi were the main fundamental designers in this movement were they designed and applied decoration to their products. There was also the Memphis group which consisted in Italian designers and architects was created later; and this group produced monumental and colourful Neo-Pop Designs."

In this period when the Memphis group was created by famous designers the Radical design was also getting in the culture of many places which was effected in interiors as you can see below. Since in the Memphis were several pop design designers it was inspired by pop design which consisted in bright and fun colours and also subnormal quirky designs which one never seen before in any other era/movement.
